Temblorazo on my second day

Lima, Sismos en el Perú

I don’t know if I am just a magnet for natural disasters (check out my history with the 2010 Chile Earthquake/Tsunami) but I find it highly surprising, even in a seismic country like Peru, that on my first night I get woken up by an earthquake strong enough to get me and my roommates out of bed commenting on how this was the strongest one they’ve felt so far.

In my sleep I was already complaining about the New York subway system which has a way of making buildings shake whenever a train passes. The realization I was in Lima, which doesn’t have a subway system got me out of bed and ready and alert for my second day in Lima.

sources are naming different magnitudes and epicenters:

USGS : 33km SE of Nicolas de Pierola, Peru 2012-06-08 12:54:27 UTC

El Comercio (img above) : 76km S of Callao
